Lisbon's Assemble Music present two cuts from Wolfgang Voigt's seminal Studio 1 series! Along with Basic Channel and the Concept series, Studio 1 has long been acknowledged as one of the forerunners of minimalist techno, though Voigt is at pains to point out the 'differences between their handwriting'. It's a fair point too with Voigt's project filled with the sort of funk and undeniable fizz that wasn't really apparent in the work of Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald. Offered their pick of the Studio 1 archives, Assemble have chosen wisely in selecting the groove laden "Gleb" and the more conventionally dubby "Lila" as they best display the diversity Voigt achieved with the series.
