THIS IS AN EXCELLENT+ MONO UK FIRST PRESSING COPY OF THE 1967 BEATLES CLASSIC "SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND." THE NUMBERS AND SLEEVE MARKINGS ABOVE SHOW THIS TO BE ONE OF THE VERY EARLIEST OF THE FIRST PRESSINGS OF THIS ALBUM - PROBABLY DAY ONE OF THE PRODUCTION RUN, AS THE "FOURTH PROOF" SLEEVE STILL HAS THE PRODUCTION DETAILS ON THE INNER FLIPBACK, AND WAS PRINTED BEFORE THE PATENT WAS GRANTED ('PATENT PENDING' ON REAR).

THE VINYL IS IN EXCELLENT+ CONDITION AND PLAYS WITHOUT SKIPS, STICKS OR LOUD POPS. THERE ARE NO MARKS OR BLEMISHES ON THIS RECORD WHICH HAS BEEN IN MY COLLECTION SINCE NEW, AND HAS BEEN PLAYED VERY LITTLE. THE AUDIO IS EXCELLENT AND THERE IS NO BACKGROUND NOISE OF ANY SIGNIFICANCE.  THIS COPY IS PROBABLY AMONG THE TOP TWO OR THREE PER CENT STILL IN CIRCULATION, AND YOU WILL BE HARD PUSHED TO FIND A BETTER ONE ANYWHERE.

THE ONLY REASON FOR THIS SALE IS THAT I HAVE RECENTLY ACQUIRED A MINT COPY

THE GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE GATEFOLD SLEEVE IS STILL BRIGHT AND SHINY, WITH AN INTACT SPINE WHICH HAS NO TEARS OR SCUFFS. THERE IS NO LAMINATE LIFTING ANYWHERE, ONLY TWO VERY MINOR CREASES ON THE FRONT AND BACK COVERS , BUT REALLY NOTHING SERIOUS.

THE SGT PEPPER CUT-OUTS SHEET IS THE ORIGINAL, WITH NO MARKS OR DAMAGE.

THE YELLOW AND BLACK LABELS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH SIDE TWO BEARING THE "KT" TAX MARK.

THE INNER SLEEVE IS THE ORIGINAL RED AND WHITE "PSYCHEDELIC" PAPER BAG WITH NO SPLITS OR TEARS, BUT SOME AGE STAINING  AND A BLACK ARROW DRAWN ON THE OPENING EDGE. THIS IS THE ONLY PART OF THE WHOLE PACKAGE WHICH IS IN ANY WAY DEFACED OR DAMAGED - THE REST OF THE ALBUM IS TRULY EXCELLENT AS I HOPE THE PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW.

YOU WILL EASILY FIND CHEAPER COPIES OF THIS CLASSIC, BUT FEW FIRST PRESSINGS ARE UNDAMAGED AFTER ALL THESE YEARS - THIS ONE IS NOT ONLY IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, BUT IS A TRULY RARE EARLY VARIANT FROM THE VERY FIRST BATCH OF THE SGT PEPPER RUN.
