About the Fiddlers:
Benny Thomasson (1909 - 1984) won the Texas State Fiddling Championship a remarkable 15 times.  He also won the World Championship three years in a row (1955 - 1957) and the National Old-Time Fiddlers Championship.  In 1976, he appeared as a fiddle teacher in the Arnold Schwartzenegger movie Stay Hungry.  Remarkably, Texas Hoedown was his very first album.
Vernon Solomon (1924 - 1992) appeared with multiple family members, also fiddlers, in a group known as Solomon's Championship Fiddling.  He represented the State of Texas at the 1968 FolkLife Festival at the Smithsonian Institute.  In 1972, he won the Grand Masters Contest in Nashville.
Bartow Riley (1922 -   ) was one of the very first board members of the Texas Old Time Fiddlers Association.  He was inducted into the Texas State Championship Fiddler's Frolics Hall of Fame in 2004.  In addition to his excellence in playing, he has judged many competitions.
