London-based singer Gwilym Gold returns with a fresh release, and number three in HYMN's young and sparkly catalogue. "Flex", as we expected, is an epic journey through sparse landscapes made up of gentle drums, chimerical pads and Gold's own hymnal chants, of course. The surprise comes from London undercover bass wizard, Zomby, who turns in a super lo-fi re-interpretation of the original, spreading the arrangement over minimalistic beats, rickety sounds and Gold's stripped-back vocals. The Flexout Rework causes maximum damage on this EP, thanks to a charged, jungle-driven drum roll and a more club-focused groove. Quality.
