'Although poised on the threshold of strardom in the late 60's armed with a multi-album record contract, a growing fan base, and a release that leaped to #1 in Boston, in Louisianna, and in Florida, The Jelly Bean Bandits fully expected to follow in the successful footsteps of their fellow 'labelmates', Big Brother & The Holding Company and The Amboy Dukes. Instead they managed to record only this one gem, a freakbeat cult classic distinguished by Jack Dougherty's emotive guitar. Recorded in one 12-hour rush in 1967 (and 3/4 of it written the six days previous to the session) the album is a psych-punk collector's classic.'

'Teen dorks' (just look at them on the cover) album is about half good fuzz-psych and half Young Rascals type Eastcoast teen-beat, all over one of the more enjoyable Mainstreams. Given another 6 months they probably could have made a really good LP, but such quality control was not part of the Mainstream agenda. The priceless 'heavy' glue-sniffer epic about a "Caterpillar's eye" must be heard to be believed, and there's good fuzz drive on "Generation". Fun and dumb, worth checking out.' - Acid Archives
