Born in Louisiana, Clarence Williams (1893?-1965) was an American jazz pianist, composer, promoter, vocalist, theatrical producer and publisher. He played with Handy, married singer Eva Taylor and, in the 1920s, supervised blues recordings for Okeh Records, Williams and his Bottomland Orchestra recorded “Zulu Wail” and “Slow River” on June 7, 1927.
