Sessions recorded at at Lenox, Massachusetts 1959/60 when pianist John Lewis was director of the Lenox School of jazz and the other three members of the Modern Jazz Quartet were instructors on the summer programmes.  An album which affords insight into the evolution of the MJQ with its new versions of “Django” and “Vendome” – the original 1952 version of “Vendome” is also included as a bonus track.  The LP’s title song cements the strong link with Lenox – when Mahalia Jackson gave a concert there Oscar Peterson bassist Ray Brown was inspired to write this piece.
