NEAR mint, sealed copy of the original Frampton's camel LP from the early seventies. This one is an pasted cat number issue, taken from old factory unsold stock, but with a pasted updated catalog sticker over the original catalog number. With the success of the LIVE LP, the sales of this LP picked up after the fact and it was given a new catalog number to keep track, and old copies were pasted over before the new issues were pressed, so there is a likelihood that the LP in this jacket is a greenish/tan label original, as the POSTER is clearly visible in the jacket (I peeked in through the small opening in the shrink!). The LP was fully reissued later after this transitional version, with the new catalog number printed, late 70's A&M label, BAR CODE (none on this one), different inner sleeve and as far as I can tell, no poster! So this is a rare one, sealed, with mint poster too!
The shrink is largely intact but has some broken areas, however there is most of the shrink over the opening, so there is no doubt of the fact it is a sealed unplayed copy. The jacket has some slight wear on the bottom, with a factory made small saw mark for deletion/mark-down purposes and a little tiny bit of scuff on the bottom portion of the jacket. The shrink is about 85% intact tho and one would assume that the disc is unplayed and in mint condition, as it was stored well and not exposed to extremes in temperature, the only thing you would have to worry about with a sealed LP.
This album features many of the classic songs that were later popularized by the Frampton Comes Alive, live LP, later on. The original version of Lines On My Face and Do You Feel Like We Do as well as many other songs in their original studio form. Since the live LP was so amazingly famous, people forget that these songs were originally recorded in studio Lp's and actually got some FM airplay before being dwarfed by the airplay gotten from the LIVE LP, the versions on which have become much more recognizable… but it's a shame, because this little LP was a great sounding studio effort with some great songs and production that in many ways sound better…
Lines On My Face is easily my favorite, because the production and sound and more straight-ahead approach to the lyrics and melody remind me of a more Beatle-esque production (lest we forget that he was from the UK originally, even though it almost seems like he was as american as the Camaro that used to blast the 8-track of ALIVE, back in the late 70's!!) The live version of "lines" having an OK but breathy and slightly disjointed, higher energy, lacking the stacked harmonies and easy vibe with phased keys and backwards univibe guitar overdubs that are very tasteful… with all the energy and the tight band, it still just didn't seem to have that polished and melodic quality of the studio version.
Hope you enjoy this LP as much as I have in the past and no guess work on the condition of the vinyl, as this one is indeed sealed and mint, with an EX/EX- cover as well. Thanks for stopping by!
