Many Beatles LP’s are auctioned … but few of the prized MONO series. Here find the original US pressing of the Beatles’ landmark "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" LP in glorious MONO:
“Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band” (Capitol MAS-2653) MONO
Black labels with rainbow colorband, which read "MFD by Capitol Records Inc" at label bottom.
This is an early Scranton PA Pressing Plant issue, a rare collectible pressing with a misprint of the title for song #2, wrongly reading "A Little Help From My Friends". Later pressings corrected the title to read "With A Little Help From My Friends".
Includes original "psychedelic" inner sleeve and "cutouts" sheet.
Vinyl: VG (play graded)
High gloss but surface scratches/scuffs are present.
Faint surface noise (a "click" or "pop") audible between tracks and during a few quiet passages of songs ... but fine sound quality overall. To my ears, the rhythm section sounds so much better on this the mono recording vs. the stereo one, the bass more powerful and solid, the drums more crisp and distinct. A wonderful listening experience indeed.
Labels are clean and bright.
Minor spindle marks present. (see photos)
Jacket: VG-
Front and back of jacket show rub wear. Ring wear on back.
Spine is intact but seam split at top and bottom seams of record storage portion of gatefold (3 inches at top left, 4 inches at top right, 3 inches at center bottom).
Inside gatefold photos in excellent condition, bright and colorful.
"KATHY" written in small letters in ink on back of jacket. (see photos)
Includes original "psychedelic" inner sleeve and insert of "cutouts", both in excellent condition.
My Profile / Policies:
Music is my passion. I’ve been a collector for more than 50 years and have thousands of records in my personal collection, focused largely on 50’s and 60’s rock ‘n’ roll. Recently retired, I look to downsize and sell select portions of my collection in hopes of financing future purchases of a few special pieces.
All records I offer are from my personal collection, each cleaned using my Nitty Gritty Record Cleaning Machine.
All are play graded (not just visually graded), employing Goldmine Price Guide standards.
As I take great care to accurately describe my items, I do not accept returns unless my item description is incorrect.
All records are packaged with the wax outside the jacket (to avoid seam split in transit), enclosed in a plastic sleeve and shipped in robust record mailer boxes via USPS Media Mail, tracking included.
Payment expected within 3 business days of auction close.
