QUINTEPLUS Lp by QUINTEPLUS. Original Argentina 1st pressing on EMI PARLOPHONE label (S-10055), from 1972. Absolutely killer set from this quintet of players who had roots starting from the early '60s Agrupación Nuevo Jazz (aka New Jazz Collective) before disbanding after this legendary session was recorded. The whole Lp is amazing, easily one of the best from the Argentine jazz scene. Outstanding hard bop / modal and contemporary funky jazz with fender rhodes / booming horn section and sometimes intimate trumpet a la Miles Davis. Rhythmically stunning and inspired explorations into the American soul jazz genre with a deep understanding of afro cuban music / bossa and Argentine folk played in a jazz key. Our soundclip opens with the fabulous EL MARQUES (in 3 phases) with heavy B-boy drums / rawkus jazz breaks and soul-searching middle section. The equally potent EL PASITO DE NANO / groovy LA VUELTA DEL ELEFANTOR and LOBERMAN EL HOMBRE LOBO also have that desirable Santucci Scoppa jazz sound of the period. BLACKMAN EL JUSTICIERO is also superb. Great for DJs. Loud production sound. LOS EJES DE MI CARRETA and ZAMBA DE MIS PAGOS showcase the group's jazz experimentations with the indigenous folk compositions of Atahualpa Yupanqui and Adolfo Abalos. Both themes are beautiful examples of exotic jazz and are influenced by the iconic Prestige / Blue Note label sound of the period. Music that also should appeal to collectors of Horacio Rosas Jazz 5 / Jorge Lopez Ruiz / Horacio Chivo Borraro and Ruben Lopez Furst. Bizarre sleeve artwork. Seldom comes up for sale now. Rare Lp!!! Full tracklisting: LOBERMAN EL HOMBRE LOBO / LOS EJES DE MI CARRETA / BLACKMAN EL JUSTICIERO / EL MARQUES / EL PASITO DE NANO / ZAMBA DE MIS PAGOS / LA VUELTA DEL ELEFANTOR / ODA A BILLY JOE

Musicians:

Gustavo Bergalli - trumpet

Jorge Anders - tenor sax

Santiago Giacobbe - fender rhodes electric piano

Jorge Gonzalez - electric bass / amplified double bass

Carlos Pocho Lapouble - drums

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG

Vinyl is in shiny VG condition overall with hairlines and scuffs causing some sections of soft pops / ticks (as you can hear on the soundclip). Loud production sound with surface noises but audible blemishes to be expected from such a pressing anyway. The half laminated card sleeve is in VG+ condition overall regardless of the small tear to the middle open side (back sleeve only). "Estereo" export sticker. Ring creasing / ring dirt marks / corner and edge wear. Sleeve has speckled age spots and natural discoloration. Back sleeve also has some scuffing wear / mini abrasions / dirt marks and a few stains from storage. Rare Lp!!!
