~~ A one night stand with a snowman? Time travelling to find your soulmate? The story of the life of a snowflake? Hiding the tracks of the Yeti? Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? Yet in Kate Bush's hands these musical stories are an absolute joy to behold. Most of the songs are built around quite sparse piano arrangements, Steve Gadd's stunning subtlety on drums and John Giblin and Danny Thompson's bass. Some stunning flourishes of strings arranged by Jonathan Tunick seal the musical magic. Kate's production on Misty in particular is just wonderful. It's The Snowman for adults! The song is just impossibly stunning and is written with Kate's special knack of being able to build musical tension and joy. I love this song and it has found its way to become my favourite song written and produced by Kate.

Wild Man sees Kate use stunning use of backing vocals and melody in the chorus, reminiscent of her earlier work. The empathy she has for the mythical Yeti makes you believe he may well be out there soewhere..She name checks all the supposed geographical sightings of the Yeti in the Himalayas and builds up the tension in the song using that special production magic she possesses.

Lake Tahoe will have dog lovers weeping and hugging their pets and 50 Words for Snow will have you chuckling at 'creaky creaky' and 'schamistofloppin' - Kate's made up words for snow. This song has a proper shameny type rhythm with Stephen Fry doing what he does best.

Among Angels is possibly the only self help song that I have heard that is not cheesy, melancholic or even depressing. It is beautiful and full of empathy and pragmatism. A song penned for a friend in need or even herself? The strength of character Kate possesses shines through in her lyrics. Musically, the piano style reminds of Thomas Nyman in his American Beauty and The Shawshank Redemption phase.

50 Words for Snow is an absolute gem. Let it grow on you and work it's magic
