Apart from being an excellent film on all grounds, Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain has gained a significant cult following due to its soundtrack. This is no surprise, as the original motion soundtrack features music from Clint Mansell performed by Mogwai and the Kronos Quartet. As you can imagine, the trio conjure a powerful sonic image, and it's only with their artistic diversity that this score becomes as deep and magical as it is. There are elements of neo-classical, guided by a strong electronic assemblage, and wrapped up in a moody ambient coating. It doesn't get better than this.
