The psychic intertwining of Ripley Johnson and Saneae Yamada has always extended across areas of enlightenment somewhat more advanced than your average two-chord psych explorers, yet 'Occult Architecture' is adept at striking a tidy balance between the monomaniacal and the metaphysical. Much as ever, the starting points here are the motorik rhythm of Neu! and La Dusseldorf, the vintage synth sounds of the '70s and the guitar curlicues of Spacemen 3, yet few contemporary longhairs possess their elemental power to extend these core elements and render them a pathway to the stars.
