MUSICORAMA N. 7 - ITALIAN LIBRARY Lp by GIORGIO CARNINI. Original Italian Biem pressing on RICORDI label (LR 7), from 1969. Super-obscure Library grail. Arguably, the most elusive release in the Musicorama series. If you want to treat yourself to a big Library that, let's face it, only a handful of collectors out there actually own, then here it is :) Carnini was the organ & piano player on the Sandro Brugnolini Overground OST and experimental keyboard wizard of the UST 7010 - Beat Drammatico - Underground - Pop Elettronico Library on Fonit label. The Musicorama N.7 is also revered and is the session with his BEAT REQUIEM masterpiece. For us, easily one of the best Italian Library themes of them all. Ultra lysergic, psych jazz with spiralling fender bassline / killer hip hop beats and echoed congas. Even the long intro is laced with acid using stoned fuzz distortions / gothic hammond and ghostly muted horns that drift in and out of the full track. Strung-out mood music with drum and bass interplay that destroys even the most icy Portishead / Frog - Psychomania sound. The whole Lp is superb so our soundclip follows on with several other important themes. QUINTO CAPANNONE is a brooding spy jazz affair, strangely British sounding a la Edwin Astley with heavily strummed bass riffs and aggressive beat rhythms. Hallucinogenic atmospheres of death and decay throughout the beautifully avantgarde ALEATORIA with bowed - plucked cello and sinister electronics. More obsessive cues like the amazing CAPESTRO / RUGIADA and STERN have a surreal, other-worldly Egisto Macchi feel. There is also a trippy Alessandroni-esque theme called ERBA SECCA with spatial guitar notes / spooky whistles / archane tympany and treated electric piano. BASSI FONDI is yet another psychedelic jazz theme with funky bowed contrabass like Guy Pedersen / Baroque Jazz Trio etc. Groovy beatnik jazz with Franco Chiari style vibes / congas and intermittent fuzz on SPLASH-DOWN. We have recorded all the jazz based themes first, followed by all the spellbinding "art installation" type cues ;) On the same cult label as Sorgini's Zoo Folle with sleeve artwork to die for too. If you like Maria Teresa and Antonio Riccardo Luciani on Le Monde and Ayna label, then Musicorama N.7 will blow you away. Very rare Library Lp!!! Full tracklisting: HALLO HERB / ERBA SECCA / BEAT - REQUIEM / CAPESTRO / ALEATORIA / QUINTO CAPANNONE / STERN / RUGIADA / SPLASH-DOWN / BASSI FONDI
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall with a few faint hairlines and one grit induced scuff line from sleeve removal (halfway across "Quinto Capannone" and "Stern" theme). Otherwise, just a few mini old pressing residue blemishes. Light surface noises. Superb production sound. A few soft pops / soft ticks in places (as you can hear on the soundclip) but mostly to a short section of the gentle "Erba Secca" theme. Item was most probably unplayed when we found it and has only been played a few times prior to the recording of our soundclip. The laminated card sleeve is in strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) regardless of any light wear from storage. A few laminate crease lines (mostly to the open side of back sleeve). Natural age discoloration and a few dirt speckles (similar to what Fama / Pegaso / Iller / Jubal etc sleeves all seem to have). One small dirt stain to the upper white band area of front sleeve. A touch of laminate lifting / wear to front bottom right corner. Sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Very rare Library Lp!!!
