A documentary about Papa Celestin, the great New Orleans cornet/trumpet player and band leader who started out in Storyville (where prostitution was allowed in the late 1800's and early 1900's, and where Jazz was born in the numerous bars there) and spent his entire musical career in New Orleans - over 50 years! Louis Armstrong was a member of Papa's band before he left for Chicago; Louis later called it the best jazz band in the City. (Papa got his nickname because Louis called him that when he joined the band at a young age.)
Contains the only known video clip of Papa and his band (The Tuxedo Jazz Band) performing. Also contains interviews and comments by Papa from the legendary "Red Record" about his discovery of "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee", not available anywhere else. Numerous photos, several video clips, info about Papa's band after his death (they are still playing today in the French Quarter, and the band is now 107 years old, the longest continuously active jazz band in the world).
