Roll out the red carpet, Erol Alkan's back! OK, so he's hardly been hibernating - he's been DJing loads, as well as remixing all sorts of artists - but this double-header still marks his first solo material for five years. Title track "Spectrum" sees Alkan doff a peaked cap towards rolling proto-techno, layering restless, lo-fi synth riffs atop heavy but similarly lo-fi machine drums and all manner of densely layered additional percussion hits. 'Silver Echoes" is a little deeper and warmer, with crashing drum machine cymbals, rising futurist synth chords and toasty, jammed-out riffs catching the ear.
