I use the Goldmine grading system and grade very conservatively. My records are play graded and visually graded under bright halogen floods to get the most accurate grade possible. Grading reflects the visual and audible condition of the vinyl. Labels are as shown.

VINYL GRADING
MINT- Appears to have just left the manufacturing plant, that is, it appears perfect. No scuffs, scratches, blotches, writing, tears on label.
NEAR MINT (NM) - A record that is otherwise perfect but has one or two tiny, inconsequential flaws that do not affect the play.
EXCELLENT (same as "VG+") - A record that has been handled or played infrequently or very carefully. Obviously not perfect, but not too far from it. VG+ records could have light paper scuffs from sleeve, some loss of luster or a slight scratch that does not affect play.
VG (Very Good) - A record with visible signs of handling and playing such as loss of luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. A VG record looks like it will have some audible surface noise when played, although such noise should not overwhelm the music or ruin the listening experience.
G (Good) - A record that is well played with visible defects such as complete loss of surface sheen, scratches or surface noise. Still playable and enjoyable.
