Richard Hawley's fifth studio album was named after an old bridge in his Sheffield hometown that connected historically rich and poor parts of the town. He used it as a metaphor for leaving his past behind - which two years prior this album included the Mercury Prize nominated Coles Corner - and embarked on a less formulaic, but just as moving and literate sound as previous records. Deeply elegant song writing, earnestness and moving pop hooks defined late-50s grooves and twinkly pianos of this most assured and essential album. Fact fans will already know that "Tonight the Streets Are Ours" was in both the opening titles of Banksy film Exit Through The Gift Shop as well as The Simpsons episode "Exit Through the Kwik-E-Mart".
