CONDITION DETAILS Import from UK. 12" Single. Vinyl plays with occasional light-crackles (play-graded). Cover looks great; a few creases near edges; light-scuffing, slight discoloration with darker discoloration spots, and surface impressions (front/back). Inner-sleeve is plastic. Spine has no text and shows some wear. Some shelf-wear along side-edges and corners. Top opening is crisp with signs of light use and small tear near center. (Not a cut-out.)

ABOUT THE RECORD New Year's Day, by U2, is the third track on their 1983 album War and was released as the album's lead single in January 1983. With lyrics written about the Polish Solidarity movement, New Year's Day is driven by Adam Clayton's distinctive bassline and the Edge's piano and guitar playing. It was the band's first UK hit single, peaking at No. 10, and was also their first international hit, reaching for No. 9 in Norway, No. 11 on the Dutch Top 40, No. 17 in Sweden, and No. 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. In 2010, Rolling Stone magazine placed the single at No. 435 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". This song was also included in the Pitchfork 500. The UK cover features a photograph of Peter Rowen, who grew up near U2 lead vocalist Bono in Ireland.
