The golden, gospel tinged soul of Michael Orr has been popularised by DJs like Hunee and Floating Points, who have long been playing "Here I Go (Through These Changes Again)", which features on this classic 1976 album. The American's music is joyous and celebratory thanks to his spiritual lyrics and soaring delivery, as well as its freeform flute lines and raw drum work. Made with bass player Carey Harris, it's a fine fusion of soul, r&b, gospel, funk and jazz with the sort of golden touches you'd associate with studio wizard Quincy Jones. Gorgeous stuff.
