DURAN DURAN   "Rio"    LP

RARE 2nd Edition US pressing (1982), with the prized David Kerschenbaum remixes  

Multiple editions of the classic Duran Duran "Rio" LP were pressed and are not easily distinguished.  I have seen many an eBay listing which wrongly cites the vintage of the copy of "Rio" for sale.

Here is the skinny on this rare pressing of "Rio":

This is a second edition 1982 US (Winchester VA) pressing, valued especially for the tracks on Side 1, all remixes done by David Kerschenbaum.  Consequently, all the track times cited on the Side 1 label are incorrect, as the labels are "carry overs" from first edition pressings ... making this second edition pressing all the more collectible.

Further, Kerschenbaum is not credited on the inner sleeve, despite the fact that this second edition featured his remixes.  These oversights were corrected on subsequent editions.

These rare vintage details are verifiable by studying the dead wax etchings, which read:

Side 1:   ST-1-12211-Z15-RE1  #5   "triangle symbol"   PRECISION SM

Side 2:   ST-2-12211-Z9-RE1    #2   "triangle symbol"   PRECISION D.L.  

Spectacularly clean NM wax, plays "like new".  Outstanding sound quality throughout.

The wax is flawed only by a few very light superficial paper scuffs, visible under bright light, which have no discernible impact on sound quality.

(The wax will be delivered to the buyer in a professional poly sleeve to ensure no additional paper scuffs are created.)  

Super high gloss remains.  

Labels are clean, sharp and bright, look "like new".

Beautiful, clean NM- jacket, flawed only by traces of ring/rub wear and minor damage at the edges of the record opening slot.  (See close up photos.)

Jacket front and back color artwork and text are rich, clear and bright.

Seams and spine are solid and clean, nearly flawless.  No splits.

Spine print is crystal clear.   

Includes original custom inner sleeve (with color photo of the band, lyrics and credits), in NM- condition.  There is a 2 inch seam split at the center of the bottom seam of the inner sleeve.
