The late, great Walter 'Junie' Morrison may be best known for his contributions to killer records by Parliament/Funkadelic (whose 'One Nation Under a Groove' he wrote) and Ohio Players, but between 1975 and '84 he released a string of mostly excellent albums. Arguably the best of the bunch is 1976's Suzie Super Groupie, which has now been given the reissue treatment courtesy of Be With Records. Musically, it's a thrill-a-minute ride through P-funk, Ohio Players style flash-fried funk fusion, Sly Stone style funk-rock, synth-laden proto-boogie and cheery, soul-fired dancefloor workouts. That's there's no filler, just a string of killer cuts, is testament to Morrison's immense, sadly missed talents.
