The latest offering from Outta Sight's Soul Club seven-inch series is rather special. It offers a new edition of Al Wilson's infectious 1968 cover of Oscar Brown, Jr lassic 'The Snake' - a Johnny Rivers/Marc Gordon production that saw the late, great soul singer tell a rip-roaring shaggy dog story over a ridiculously funky backing track that features one of the most recognizable and life-affirming horn arrangements of all time. As it did way back in 1968, the song comes backed with a fine acoustic-soul cover of Willie Hutch song 'Getting Ready for Tomorrow'. Impeccably produced and performed, this heartfelt number is every bit as essential as the more club-ready A-side.
