Light of the World's seminal Jazz Funk Power album has bene long in the works and is much anticipated from the Brit-funk pioneers. Their sound is stuffed with soul and conviction, and references all the classics (think the likes of Earth Wind and Fire, Incognito, Jamiroquai, Tower of Power, Brand New Heavies, Kool and The Gang and Chic ) as well as bringing something new. Musically and lyrically this is a semi-biographical work that muses on summer loves and optimistic grooves, slow motion love songs and plenty of tender gems. Sentimental and emotional but never overly so, this one was well worth the wait.
