Midnite is a rotating ensemble of dub heads and roots reggae musicians from the US Virgin Islands who have been active since the late 80s. In that time they have put out an astonishing 53 albums, with Children of Jah first landing back in 2012. It has only ever been available on CD before now, so this lush double 12" is a welcome one. Across fourteen seriously heavy cuts it touches you on a deep emotional level, all while paying plenty of tributes and respects to the one and only Jah. But of course there is a core social and political element to the messages that muse on the plights of the oppressed, faults of political, economic and social systems and much more.
