Mercedes Sosa started an unforgettable series of concerts at the Opera Theater in 1982. Her return broke an enormous silence: it was a milestone in the history of Argentine popular music, and also had significant political projection. Mercedes Sosa had not sang live in Argentina for less than four years (her last appearance had been in 1978). On the day of the debut, as 2,500 people packed the Teatro Opera, several hundred stood outside challenging the No more seats sign with others begging I pay any price for a ticket.
