I Try To Grade Conservatively Using Goldmine Grading Standard

A VERY GOOD PLUS record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences.

A VERY GOOD PLUS Cover should have only minor wear. It might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom,  the most vulnerable location. Also, it may have some defacing, such as a cut-out marking.

A VERY GOOD record will have many of the defects found in a VG+ record but will be more pronounced. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise.

A VERY GOOD cover will have many signs of human handling. Ring wear in the middle or along the edges of the cover, where the edge of a record would reside, is obvious; it may appear on all three sides, thought it won’t be obvious upon looking. Someone might have written on it or stamped a price tag on it.
