Blue Note Records Joe Henderson – State of the Tenor: Live at the Village Vanguard, Volume 2 (Tone Poet Series) 180 gram LP
Blue Note Tone Poet Series... New - Mint Condition. Album and Cover have never left the plastic sleeve. Heavy high-gloss cover.
Review: Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, Ron Carter on bass, and Al Foster on drums captured live in 1985 playing at the peak of their respective powers at NYC’s historic jazz shrine, The Village Vanguard. Alfred Lion, founder of Blue Note Records and its sole producer until 1967, said upon hearing these sessions: “I think this is truly a classic album. What Joe plays is unbelievable. This is one of the most important albums that I have ever heard. It is definitely one of the best ever made on Blue Note. And I don’t mean the new Blue Note. It’s one of the best ever, including all of the records we did in the 50s and 60s.”
Blue Note Tone Poet Series: The Blue Note Tone Poet Series was born out of Blue Note President Don Was’ admiration for the exceptional audiophile Blue Note LP reissues presented by Music Matters. Was brought Joe Harley (from Music Matters), a.k.a. the “Tone Poet,” on board to curate and supervise a series of reissues from the Blue Note family of labels. Extreme attention to detail has been paid to getting these right in every conceivable way, from the jacket graphics and printing quality to superior LP mastering (direct from the master tapes) by Kevin Gray to superb 180 gm audiophile LP pressings by Record Technology Inc. Every aspect of these Blue Note/Tone Poet releases is done to the highest possible standard. It means that you will never find a superior version.
Blue Note Records’ Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series is produced by Joe Harley and features all-analog, mastered-from-the-original-master-tape 180g audiophile vinyl reissues in deluxe gatefold packaging. Mastering is by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and vinyl is manufactured at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI). Recorded live at The Village Vanguard, New York City on November 14, 15 and 16, 1985
