New York City based hip-hop MC/producer Angel Aguilar is 8 Off, and his 1995 debut album Wrap Your Lips Around This remains his most well known. It's a mix of scene-setting skits and various hip hop styles: there is the celebratory pomp of 'Ghetto Girl' with its big horns and sweet rhymes and the deep cut and observational 'Neighbourhood Hoe' as well as classic boom bap joints like the excellent 'Life Aint Easy.' It serves as a reminder of hip hop's heyday and is a welcome time machine back to a simpler time.
