I have collected
records since I was very young, however Iincreasingly I have realised
that I have far too many, and soI have been slowly trying to rationalise
my extensive collection over the years, I have sold many major rarities
over the years, from major BEATLES and 60s rarities, through PUNK and
PROG ROCK, CLASSICAL and BLUES. Basically I've had alot of very rare
records and in dribs and drabs have sold them off. I've never had
negative feedback, and had many repeat customers.
I will only post completely insured and tracked.
All
singles come with the sleeves they're pictured with, I don't use
repros,so if it's with what looks like an original sleeve, it is an
original sleeve!
Here we have a really lovely item. When most collectors (myself included) talk about EMI's earliest stamper/ lacquer code, they are almost invariably talking about "G", and it's absolutely correct, for domestically publically available copies the very first code should be "G".However,as any hardened DEMO collector will tell you there is an earlier, more exclusive code, "J" or "JR" standing for Journalist,or Journalist Release/Review. This was used on Demos, and some times got left on a few of the first hundred copies off the press to the public with standard labels. Now in the 50s and early 60s in was "J", but by the time the Beatles were recording it was "JR",when a "Journalist" record was made,it was pressed without a mother codeat 9 o'clock. This is just such a copy of Paperback Writer, however,it has the older defunct "J",not "JR" code, and whilst it doesn't have any mother codes,it does have some other lacquer codes! Very, very odd! Could this have been as EMI were experimenting with the pressings that the Beatles had insisted on this record to add much more bass that previously been thought possible? Anyway this very rare record has no mother codes and the "J" code at 3 o'clock, VERY, VERY RARE!
Record Condition: VG plenty of light surfaces marksbut none more signifficant, and plays very strongly, with a tiny bit of light static at the intro and outro. Labels Condition: VG similar condition to the record's surfaces, this is arecord that has been played but not abused, general disc rub across the higher areas, but absolutely no graffiti/stickers/stains etc.
