LOVE STRINGS

BERIMBAU (INSTRUMENTAL & VOCAL VERSION)

2sided ACETATE DUBPLATE

1966

PROMO

Click and listen to our lo-fi soundclip / mp3 of both sides

Unique and rare 2sided acetate dubplate 7inch credited to Love Strings (most probably an unreleased studio recording from the cult, Love Strings & Jobim aka The Eloquence of Antonio Carlos Jobim aka Tom Jobim Apresenta Elenco session of 1966). The label side is a bossa jazz version of "Berimbau" (but without the woodwind finale). The blank side is an alternative vocal version that sounds like Astrud Gilberto with Gil Evans & Dom Um Romao. However, both arrangements sound similar so this poses an obvious conundrum and a very interesting item for Brazilian collectors. The musicians behind Love Strings included hot names like Roberto Menescal / Marcos Valle / Luiz Eca / Eumir Deodato (piano) / Oscar Castro Neves (guitar) / Sergio Barroso (fender bass) and Jorge Ferreira (alto sax - flute). The funky drummer was Edison of Edison Machado e Samba Novo infamy. Music recorded onto a UK dubplate with "The Music Centre" of Bond Street London labels. Ipanema (the original publisher) and track title is written in pen. Inventive - grandiose - psychedelic - oriental tinged bossa nova produced by Lindolfo Gaya / Aloysio De Oliveira and Ray Gilbert. Great for DJs. Possible one-of-a-kind inedit item. Never seen before! More bossa and samba on our current auctions (a little known Italian Library called Samba!!)

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
RECORD - shiny, strong VG+ (closer to VG++) with faint hairlines and some faint light scuffs / natural background noises and a few soft ticks in places but to be expected for such an item

SLEEVE - not graded - original generic factory sleeve has general wear / item from the archive of an important record label who had offices in Milan, hence the archive stickers with pen notation, front and back
LABEL - some light wear marks / natural age discoloration / some ink fading / faint old stains cum dirt marks from storage

After a 2 year gap, Pourquoi Moi Vintage is back :)
