DESCRIPTION

Louis Armstrong - “Satchmo Plays King Oliver” Audio Fidelity Records AFLP 1930 (Mono) from 1960. Very Hard To Find Original First Press Dixieland Jazz Album by Louis Armstrong with a great band featuring Peanuts Hucko, Trummy Young, Billy Kyle, Mort Herbert and Danny Barcelona. Recorded in 1959. On the Deep Groove Gold with Black Text Audio Fidelity Mono Labels and in the Original Sleeve.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in good shape. There is some fairly slight basic shelf wear and corner softening. There is a crease in the lower left corner. The top seam has been neatly taped about 1/3 of the way from the opening edge so I assume it is part split. There is a “RHS4” stamp on the back in the lower left corner. There is a tiny little cutout drill hole in the lower center that goes thru the labels as well. Still solid with no writing, stains, splits, tears, etc. and would rate as VG. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition. There are overall light scuffs and hairlines, no actual scratches i.e. something you can feel with a fingernail. Plays mostly VG+ or better with some spots of light groove noise/crackle and an occasional soft tic, mostly on the A-Side, the B-Side is very clean. Nothing that interferes with the music. Overall an nice player and should rate VG. Besides the mentioned cutout drill, the labels are Near Mint.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
