1977 single 'Total Satisfaction', a "45" released on obscure label Sound Plus, is one of the rarest and most sought after records in Brief Encounter's catalogue. Here it gets a fresh pressing on Japanse imprint Ultra Vybe. It's well worth a listen. The title track is particularly delicious: a loved-up chunk of downtempo, disco-era soul in which the group's sublime vocals rise above hazy horns, twinkling electric piano, lush orchestration and a languid, laidback groove. Flipside 'Human' is a little more up-tempo, but still largely laidback, warm and groovy, with weightier bottom end and a few more nods towards disco-soul.
