Micah Williams has spent most of his 20-year career as Mr Willamz as a mic man for hire, lending his fast-tempo patois raps and heavily accented sung vocals to tracks produced by the likes of Major Lazer, Shy FX, Mungo's Hi-Fi, Mikey General and Spragga Benz. Now he's rightly making moves to be recognised as a recording artist in his own right via a first solo album that was reportedly inspired by his roots within reggae's soundsystem scene. Much of the material is powered forwards by weighty dancehall rhythms and weighty sub-bass, though there are just as many cuts that doff a cap to dub and roots reggae as the more cutting-edge, 21st-century end of dancehall. Throw in some great guest contributions and you have a mightily impressive full-length excursion.
