Crooked Machine is a collection of remixes from Roisin Murphy's fifth studio album Roisin Machine from last year. Collaborator Richard Barratt (Sweet Exorcist/Tooth Faeries) has reworked tracks and presented them in a new light. "Kingdom Of Machines" is reinterpreted as neon-lit dark disco, while 'Assimilation" gets the low-slung balearic treatment for the beachside and likewise 'Less Is More" gets redressed as slo-mo nu-disco. The new version of 'Hardcore Jealousy" is worthy of mention too, on which it brings back the bombastic sounds of late '90s UK big beat.
