French beat-maker Spectacteur becomes Stereo Utopia for his new album on Melting Records. It comes after he has already made a name for himself with releases for The French Touch Connection and the beat-making collective Tour De Manege. Here, though, he heads out on world travels and documents in music what he sees and hears. Fat beats underpin each tune, while world rhythms and intoxicating melodies add the colour. 'Istanbul Rockers' for example has a nice psyched-out lead and plodding rhythm, then 'Spicy Twist' is all Latin fire. Truly, this is a global sound.
