Somewhere In Time is the sixth studio album by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. It was released on September 29, 1986, being the first studio album that was not published a year after its predecessor; This aspect was justified by the band to have more time to compose new songs, something that would be the general norm from now on. Somewhere In Time marks a quite noticeable change in the sound of the band with respect to their previous works, leaving aside their usual crudeness and evolving towards a more complex and elaborate style. Iron Maiden wanted to explore new musical horizons and introduced the extensive use of synthesizers. Some fans were surprised by this new sound, however, the the fans remained loyal to the band. In general terms, the changes gave the group a new air, all this, in full swing of the glam rock of the 80s. Iron Maiden, on the other hand, delved into progressive and epic atmospheres at the same time, resulting in a work that today is defined as a true masterpiece. Adrian Smith was very important in the creation of this album since he contributed one of its singles, "Wasted Years", a theme characterized by its memorable introduction, the double voices of its choir and its elaborate solo. The disc is set in futuristic times in the style of the 1982 Blade Runner movie. A cover that contains numerous curiosities and allusions to other songs from th history of Iron Maiden.
