Taeko Ohnuki's Sunshower was rather a commercial disappointment when it first got released back in 1977. But then, as is often the way, record diggers find it out years later and turn it into a cult hit for those who know. It's easy to see why, frankly, because it's a smooth fusion of jazz, rock, city pop and J-pop that instantly transports you to Japan in the late seventies. Legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto arranged all the songs and help lend the whole thing a scene and sublime sound that is finished in style by Ohnuki's vocals.
