Senderos de Traición is the second studio album by the Spanish band Héroes del Silencio, recorded at Kirios Studios (Madrid) under the production of Phil Manzanera for Sound & Management (Zurich). It was mixed at Metropolis Studios (London), with Keith Bessey as a sound and mixing engineer. The band has considered this the best album of their career and where the critics began to support them more; It was a completely introspective album and very much in keeping with the time, making a fusion of sounds between gothic rock, pop and hard rock. The biggest influences were The Cult and New Model Army. It has been considered a compilation album, perhaps because of the demos included in demos and concerts given at the time, such as "Entre Dos Tierras" and "Maldito Duende", which date from 1987 (and which can be found in the model Azulejos, from 1993), as well as "El Cuadro II", from 1985 in its first interpretation. The lyrics begin to go deeper, exploiting feelings, anger, frustration, sadness, melancholy more deeply; the effects caused by drugs are shown explicitly, as in the topic "Spell". It was his first number one in Spain and the first album to enter the German sales charts. In the August 2009 issue, in the Spanish edition of Rolling Stone magazine, Senderos de traicion was considered the second best Spanish rock album.
