Discovery is the second studio album by French house music duo Daft Punk, released in March 2001. It marked a change in sound from Chicago house, the genre for which they were known, to disco, post-disco, and house inspired by the synthpop.6
The album also serves as a soundtrack for the anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, which was a collaboration between the album's creators, Leiji Matsumoto, and Toei Animation. All of the music videos for the album tracks are segments from the film. Interstella 5555 follows the story of a kidnapped alien gang. Discovery is recognized as a concept album in reviews by New Musical Express and Spin magazine.
In 2020, the album was included in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 best albums of all time, ranking at number 236.
