Armenian pianist and composer Tigran Hamasyan's band is comprised of Areni Agbabian on vocals, Ben Wendel on saxophones and bassoon, Sam Minaie on bass and Nate Wood on drums. Their Red Hall long player - which was their third at the time - first came in 2009 and was a well-received mix of math rock, progressive metal and jazz. It's made up of all original tracks aside from a couple of Armenian folk songs that Tigran has arranged. Over a decade later it remains a hugely singular work that is full of intrigue and invention.
