There are elements of The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine and even a bit of Belle & Sebastian in this classic self-titled album from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Which is to say there is nothing startlingly new in any of the tunes but they have still endured and have a real place in the hearts of indie and shoegaze fans who like it a little punky and decidedly 80s. If that's you, then this is for you. The record first came in 2009, two years fate the band formed and quickly pick dup plenty of headlines and is packed with the sort of well executed tunes that it is hard to ignore.
