Powerslave is the fifth studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden released in 1984. The cover features Eddie the Head as a massive statue of a pharaoh. This album was recorded by the members of the group as a result of a vacation they spent in Egypt, after being impressed with the majesty of the pyramids. The first song to appear with this theme was "Revelations" (Piece of Mind), considered a prequel to Powerslave. This album is full of epic stories that happened throughout history. An example is the first song on the LP "Aces High" (Steve Harris), which is dedicated to all those English pilots who died fighting in the Battle of Britain. It also contains long-playing compositions such as "Powerslave" and "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". The songs that stand out the most from this album are the aforementioned "Aces High", "2 Minutes To Midnight" and the song that gives the title to the LP, "Powerslave" (Bruce Dickinson). This album would give the band the opportunity to make the most extensive tour in its history, the World Slavery Tour during the years 1984-1985, in which they would take advantage of several shows to record the Live After Death LP and live album. As a curiosity, the album cover hides infinite details such as the logo of its cartoonist Derek Riggs, phrases with references to movies like Indiana Jones and even an illustration of Mickey Mouse.
