First released in 2020, and hitting number 26 in the Australian ARIA Charts at the time, Donny Benet's debut studio album is archetypal stuff from a guy who's difficult to pin down. Drowning in nostalgia for the 1980s, heyday of synth and pad heavy mainstream disco pop, this is a guy who seems to live and breathe that era and style, rather than just someone who fancied cashing in on the power of pastiche.

Perhaps not that surprising, considering his dad was Italian disco accordion don Antonio Giacomelli Benet, Mr Experience is nothing if not a truly authentic ride into a glittering, red and blue lit world where sex, romance, heartbreak and hedonism co-exist on a shimmering dance floor. Whether that's your bag or not, there's no denying the sonic interpretation of that description is perfectly realised here.
