Psychedelic/Garage Rock
Coming live from Club Soda, Montreal, in 1984, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome - The Cramps! Formed in 1976, the band lay claim to one of the longest lasting and criminally under-appreciated careers in rock history, their work refusing to adhere to many genre norms of the time, albeit fusing a number of these together with their own secret sauce, and their creative prowess refusing to dip through to their final split in 2009 following the death of lead singer, Lux Interior.
Difficult to define, the music itself veers from psycho-gothbilly to punk and surf rock, giving some idea as to quite how much of a live act they were always meant to be. This record, arguably capturing them at their absolute peak amid the decade that suited their remit most, offers a glimpse of what we're talking about. A snapshot of how good things were and still could be.
