DESCRIPTION

Antonio Carlos Jobim - “Wave” A&M / CTI Records SP-9-3002 (Stereo) from 1983. Hard to Find 1983 Audiophile Half Speed Remaster of this classic 1967 Bossa Nova / Jazz album from Antonio Carlos Jobim with backing from Ron Carter, Romeo Penque, Jerome Richardson, Urbie Green, Jimmy Cleveland and more. Produced by Creed Taylor, Arranged and Conducted by Claus Ogerman. Engineered by Rudy Van Gelder at his Van Gelder Studio in 1967. This was part of the “Audio Master Plus Series” and was Half Speed Remastered and pressed on Audiophile Quiex Vinyl which appears black but is Translucent when held before a strong light. On the White with Red Print "A&M+" labels and in the Original Gatefold Sleeve with no Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode. I am not sure if this is a U.S. or Canadian pressing - it would appear to be U.S. but some sources say Canada. There is nothing on the cover, label, etc. stating where it was made but the “B” on the labels by the A&M Logo and the “Emw” in the Runout Vinyl indicate it was pressed by Electrosound Group Midwest, Inc. in Indiana. The Runout / Matrix numbers read:

CONDITION

The Gatefold Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some slight shelf wear and corner softening - really mostly just some slight dirtiness on the white of the cover. Super solid with no splits, stains, writing, cutouts, tears, etc. and would rate VG+. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition but with some overall scuffs and light hairlines - no actual scratches i.e. something you can feel with a fingernail. VG visually but mostly plays VG+ or better but with some spots of light groove noise and a few soft tics. Might be further improved by a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The labels are Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
