The legendary Black Jazz label's second ever release was by Walter Bishop, Jr, a man who had a strong collection of original songs in his locker. For this record he had a heavy line up of talents including Idris Muhammad on drums and Coltrane bassist Jimmy Garrison. One of the cuts here, 'Soul Turn Around,' is a super sweet groover that later turned up on Freddie Hubbard's 1969 LP A Soul Experiment. The whole thing has a lush polish, with soulful sheen over the gentle jazz sax and dancing piano work. Harold Vick on flute is a real standout on may tracks, too, making this a fine reissue.
