Medeski, Martin & Wood have been on a mission over the course of the last 30-odd years to explore the outer frontiers of jazz, all while drawing on hip-hop, avant-garde, world music, and electronic funk. Friday Afternoon In The Universe showcases their fearless improvised style and takes its name from 'Old Angel Midnight' by Jack Kerouac. It's a record that collides many different ideas and plenty of new ones emerge as a result.
