Up for bid is an original press of “Eastern Sounds" by Yusef Lateef, Prestige Records, 1964. The jacket and record are conservatively graded as very good plus (VG+), labels and grooves are clean with typical wear. Vinyl has typical handling and play west that does not affect play, beyond typical surface noise. Track one side two does have a scratch that is discernible as a pop, but it is not distracting. Jacket is sharp with original shrink intact. This is a great jazz recording. And this is a nice specimen.

Low start. No reserve. Happy bidding.

I was asked a question by a potential bidder, requesting me to “put up pictures of the first press” because what I have posted are pics of a repress. The following is my response:

You are correct. This is considered a reissue. These are the pics of the album I have, the album I am selling, the copy up for bid. I do not purport to be an expert, but it is my understanding this copy may have originally been pressed to be released under “Moodsville” which of course was a Prestige subsidiary. This is the earlier of the 1964 blue label repress, as the label shows the trident at 12. Dead wax shows MVST #22 (scratched). To add… which can be confusing, see pics… appears “ZAI” is etched on side 1 (side A), also what may be an “AB” but does not look like a true AB on side 1 (side A). As well “ZAI” is etched on side B. Also hashes for side 1 & 2. Again, not an expert, nor is a friend I have consulted with who is more in the know regarding variants and deep press details. I will let the buyer decide best. These markings all point to an early press, likely an original first run stereo. It would not be unheard of to release first pressing holdbacks at a later date, for any number of reasons. But, perhaps I am wrong. Again, if a buyer feels I am in error over any description, I am open to reason, and will be more than happy to amend the listing. Regardless, this is a respectable and coveted 1964 repress. Actually, I might just pull this anyway if no bids soon. Been on the fence about letting this go. A good cleaning and this is a bomb copy. I appreciate your interest and welcome your bid if you would like this copy in your collection.

If I am in error, please correct me so I may properly amend the listing.

I have removed the word “first” from the listing. I have added extra pics of the run outs on both sides. The photos are the photos are the photos.

Advice… If you are ever unsure, not confident, or find yourself on the fence about bidding on any item on eBay ever, you should probably not bid.
