Taj Mahal's debut album, self titled, 1968 used vinyl LP, Columbia CS 9579 stereo recording in Very Good Plus Condition inside (record) and Good Condition outside (jacket/sleeve).
This is the original 1968 Columbia analog release, not the recent Sony Canada 2017 reissue.
One of Taj's strongest and most innovative albums musically (super sharp blues harmonica by Taj, as well as slide guitar). This recording was a great start to a Blues performance and recording career that has spanned decades. Sidemen on this LP include Ry Cooder on guitar.
Prior to play-grading the album was cleaned using the Spin Clean MKII Record Washing System. Clean black vinyl LP play-graded Very Good Plus Condition. High shine with visible surface and hairline scratches, but the LP does play mostly quiet with only spare ambient noise and the rare occasional tic. No skips or warping.
Early Columbia 2-eye label press. 1B/1D stampers in deadwax. Terre Haute pressing (plant symbol "T" etched in deadwax).
Record labels are clean and bright, text is easily readable. No excess spindle hole wear or errant spindle hole marks.
Jacket is graded Good Condition with measurable wear, hence the reduced price. Paper residue lower front from a timing strip that someone removed. Upper spine is split in its entirety. Fiber has bowed from dry conditions.
Moderate ring wear visible. Age spots/foxing mostly visible on rear of sleeve. Fiber aging and wear front.
Text is easy to read. Moderate shelf wear lower spine. Corner rub. Small star sticker rear sleeve.
No cutout marks, drill holes, saw cuts, clipped corners, major creases, water stains, ink or pen marks.
LP comes with new aftermarket fiberboard sleeve liner and upgraded polylined inlay sleeve for good storage and playback use.
